Detect page language to avoid similar words in other languages being wrongly translated

I've been using PI for some time now and although i can't say it's improved my german, it's definitely made me for accustomed to some of its words !
One issue i have though is that sometimes the word it has chosen to translate can be found in other languages i'm familiar with, and will be wrongly translated.
One example is with the word "tout". I have set PI to translate english words into german, so it has picked the verb "tout" to be translated into the german "werbe", which is fine. But i'm alwso browsing the internet and reading in french, which mean the french "tout" which means "every" is also translated to the german verb "werbe" which is plain wrong ! It was alos a conscious choice of mine to only translate english words and not french ones.

Would it be possible to detect the language of the app so it doesn't try to translate uselessly ?

Thanks for using it! There would be two ways to approach this that I can think of, off the top of my head:

1. We checked what websites report as the language of their content, but sometimes they don't report anything, or its just wrong, so this is nowhere near foolproof.

2. We send the sentence of every word we would translate to Google Translate just to check the language, but this would be slow and probably get you banned from Google Translate.

I can implement option 1 if you want to try it, but I don't think it would be anywhere near perfect.

i'd bet it would work for most cases which is good enough, and would already be an improvment over the current behavior :)
if the need arises, maybe let users specify the languge for specific websites to bypass this verification.
