It ought to be possible to test Polardroid's functionality using an Android emulator.

Advanced functionality including restores could be tested using an Android UI automation framework such as appium.

You'd basically dial in some configuration state, apps, app state etc. via UI, do a backup using Polardroid, wipe the userdata, attempt to restore and check whether the state is as it should be.

NixOS test VMs could be used for testing device hopping functionality.
