Generator import heightmap option requirements

Hey,
Regarding the generator, I wanted to ask what requirements an imported heightmap needs. I assume that you can't upload a normal png file that is then automatically converted. I have attached a screenshot, which option i mean.

You actually can import just a png. The you have to assign each cells a height (can be done automatically with buttons, based on hue or based on luminosity) and apply the conversion. The maps you can see on you screenshot, are just monochrome heightmap pngs that are processed inside the tool. You can upload basically any image, the result highly varies on heightmap quality, cells number, and your attention to details.

It is great to import a png. However I have not found in the wiki or the docs the details of the supported images. I have a monochrome heightmap with more than 256 possible heights. Is it possible to import this raw information in other way or format with more possible heights per pixel? Where are the docs regarding the supported image format?

Hello. No, FMG has height as [0-100] scale, where 20 is the sea level. So having 256 or more colors provide the same datelines as having 100 colors. The map is not pixel based, it's voronoi based and there is a hard limit of how many cells can be there. Generally it should not be that high and map should not be super details or it will be lagging as heck. People find a lot of creating ways to make the map look realistic (e.g. adding terracing, turbulence or blur to heightmap), you may check on our Discord.
