Compile under Debian Stable, Ubuntu latest LTS, run under both Wayland and X11

Optional functions:
Compile under Debian Unstable, Ubuntu latest, run under Wayland

All:
Freedesktop specifications, POSIX,

(Where does FreeBSD come into this, and how would these things be checked?)
