Description
Problem:
The Secure Coding Practices courses on Coursera are no longer free, leaving a big gap in the curriculum.
Duration:
1 month
Background:
The Information Assurance and Security portion of the current curriculum is covered by the Cybersecurity and Secure Coding practices courses. However, the Secure Coding Practices courses are no longer freely availabe. Stanford CS 155 Computer and Network Security is listed in the appendices of the curricular guidelines as a course that covers all Core Tier 1 and Tier 2 hours of the IAS portion. While video lectures are not available, the following resources are:
- Lecture notes from Spring 2015: https://adebray.github.io/lecture_notes/155notes.pdf
- Current course page with readings and projects: https://cs155.stanford.edu/
- Archived course page with readings and projects: https://web.archive.org/web/20150919181855/https://crypto.stanford.edu/cs155/
The order of readings and lectures is not exactly the same between the Spring 2015 version and the current version of the course, although the material seems to be otherwise mostly the same. The available material should be enough so that the lack video lectures is not a big deal.
Proposal:
- Replace Cybersecurity and Secure Coding Practices with CS 155
- A course page is needed to act as a study guide
