Naming conflicts arising and unwanted whitespace alerts

Same-name-checking not working, editing machine titles from the card sometimes prompts unwanted whitespace alerts, and unwanted whitespace in machine name is sometimes generated upon cloning (viewable in settings). 

Problems did not exist after initial implementation of one-click-editable machine titles but arose after merging with main branch and resolving merge errors.
