PeerTube torrent media files are often shared without a context, and sometimes without a sensible title.

Attach video description as text file.

For example, the following media:

We probably should not do this, because video description is more subjected to more frequent changes over time (e.g. update of links, references, grammar corrections etc.).

Torrent Problem

Changing of a single file of a torrent means a new torrent with a new checksum.

It means, that new people to share a video will have no connection with the previous people who share the same video, because the hashes of the torrents are different.

It is possible to list all historical torrent, but doing so will confuse potential sharers.

Metalink Solution

Since so, I suggest to utilize Metalink for video metadata, because Metalink is robust and sustains sharing of files for a longer perios time than torrent.

Proven Potential

I have examined the eD2k, Gnutella, and Kad realms, and compared MD5 hashes of 100,000 files that are marked as "censored" in past and present BitTorrent trackers.

Currently, over 92,000 files were found via eDonkey2000, and Kadmila, and a subsequent check on Gnutella has detected 76,000 of these.

The check is still conducted as I write this message.

Hence, Metalink will provide more flexibility, including multiple means to distribute PeerTube videos.
