Admin rights problems again #90
Comments
Please move AutoHDR to the desktop and start it without admin rights. Is
this working for you?

… *Description:*
I have to manually launch AutoHDR with admin rights. Otherwise it will
close itself. So auto-start function doesn't work either.
*Desktop :*
- OS: Windows 11 Pro v21H2
- Version: 1.9.3 (and probably some of the older versions too)
*Hardware:*
- Monitor: LG OLED C1 48"
- Graphics card: Zotac RTX 3080 Ti Trinity OC
- Graphics card driver: [e.g. 497.29]

It does not work either on the desktop without admin rights. |
Please start AutoHDR once with admin rights and enable logging. After that,
start it without admin rights and please send me the logfile and the
settings file.

Please start the version 1.9.4 without admin rights and send me the log file again |
Are you using the release or do you compile AutoHDR by yourself? |
I've downloaded from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/hdr-profile/files/1.9.4/Release_AutoHDR_1.9.4_x64.zip/download as always |
It looks like something is denying AutoHDR to load the embedded HDRController.dll. Which antivirus software are you using? Try to add AutoHDR to the exception list for testing. |
I'm only using Windows Defender antivirus. The path from where I launch AutoHDR is already excluded. |
Try to exclude the process itself.

I've done it now but it closes itself without admin rights. BTW, here is the log when I grant the process admin rights: AutoHDR.log |
My AutoHDR (1.9.4) works without admin rights, only as a hint. |
I think this is related to a security setting. I plan to create an auto
outer with a little setup. Once I have done this, the libraries won’t be
embedded anymore. This will may fix this problem.

What I've done to temporally solve this is to create a scheduled task so AutoHDR executes each time the user logs in to Windows. I can grant admin rights to the process from the scheduled task properties. |
right-click -> properties -> start with admins rights

I know but that doesn't work if the app is executed when Windows starts. That's the reason I made a scheduled task. |
Alright, understand

Finally I can launch AutoActions without admin rights with the latest version (1.9.12). |
As I assumed, this was a "feature" of some security software. |
