[Feature Request] Ability to look at newest cogs added to the site?

I love coming back to check the site to see if there are any new cogs added but there is no filter to be able to see what new ones have been added. Is there a possibility to add that as a filter of some kind?

This seems like a cool idea but it would require support from the Red-Index backend. @Twentysix26, what do you think?

This would be doable but as Jack has stated, It would involve changing the Red-Index backend and most likely Cog Creators to add a Creation Date tag to their json files. But we can wait for Twenty to give any sort of input if we'd like to expand on what all the Cog-Browser can do

The easiest way would be to add a Index specific attribute that shows when the cog was first added, so that clients can sort them how they see fit. It's certainly doable and it would require the Index to update the previous generated version instead of just overwriting it

Cog-Creators/Red-Index#93 introduced new fields (added_at, approved_at) to the Index that make this possible to implement in Index clients. #22 added new query params to the site that allow sorting by addition time, e.g.:
https://index.discord.red/?sort_by=addition_time (this is in descending order, though technically one can also choose to append &sort_direction=asc for ascending order)

This functionality is not currently exposed through UI in any way, and I don't plan to personally work on adding sort filters in the UI. I suppose someone could make a PR for it if they want. Please note that some sorting options may require further discussion, if they are going to be exposed in UI - we would likely want to discourage sorting by update time, and so may not want that to ever be directly in UI or come with some sort of a warning, not sure.

You can also ?sort_by=update_time. ?sort_by=names is equivalent to the default sorting order (i.e. by cog names). ?sort_by=names&sort_direction=desc allows sorting in reverse alphabetical order.
The query parameters work for search results as well.
