forceequip not equipping

I have a dwarf and a helmet or anything else on a same tile. I want to force him equip it, so i choose him and type commands from examples such as "forceequip" "forceequip v bp HD" "forceequip v bp QQQ" "forceequip s m i bp HD". They all have the same result. In output appear a message "command finished succesfully" but nothing really happens and dwarf wouldnt equip anything.
