When modeling geometry from historical drawings or external references (e.g. wireframe renders, manufacturer drawings), it would be very helpful to visually validate the CPACS model against these references directly in TiGL/TiGLCreator, rather than switching between separate image viewers and eyeballing proportions.
Proposed feature
Add support for loading background/reference images in the three standard orthographic viewer planes (front/XZ, side/YZ, top/XY), with per-image:
- Load image (PNG/JPG) as background in a given view plane
- Scale (uniform, with a reference length/pixel calibration if possible)
- Position/offset (X/Y translation within the plane)
- Opacity/transparency control, to blend with the rendered geometry
- Optional: independent visibility toggle per plane
Scope
This is a "nice to have" for future consideration, not urgent; mainly flagging it so it's on the radar for TiGL Viewer / TiGLCreator UI work.
