When I try to run a program that needs to request the root password graphically, such as Synaptic, the password is requested in the terminal.

Example:

`~ synaptic-pkexec
==== AUTHENTICATING FOR com.ubuntu.pkexec.synaptic ====

Authentication is required to run the Synaptic Package Manager/

Authenticating as: root

Password: `

Tested on:

debian-testing-amd64-DVD-1.iso 2025-01-27 12:44

This is not a bug reporting place, please use the Debian BTS (https://bugs.debian.org)

That said this could be https://bugs.debian.org/1093276 and polkit-org/polkit#545
