Using Phantom S710/S711 cameras systematically leaves the frame grabbers in an invalid state after each acquisition run. After this occurs, the frame grabbers cannot be reliably reused until the system is fully rebooted. Restarting the software alone is insufficient to recover a valid acquisition state.
The artefact appears as a large static rectangular low-spatial-frequency pattern with some temporal variance. It is particularly visible in reconstructed holograms and becomes highly pronounced in the Shack–Hartmann view.
The issue has at least been confirmed on the Phantom S711.
