General comments
- More clipart and graphics can help. We could re-use Greg Wilson's own slides: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LVcmp48Ym0c6pA9GOT6TrCa47RU1ugaV
The following are only my personal perspective and not hard requirements to change. Feel free to take them into account or ignore it.
Welcome and Introduction
- Repeating bullet points from here and the welcome episode. The first one is more concrete, but second one is less verbose and inspiring. They can be combined
- After attending a workshop covering this material, learners should: ...https://enccs.github.io/instructor-training/
- Goals for this workshop... https://enccs.github.io/instructor-training/welcome/#goals-for-this-workshop
- Check time estimate of 15 minutes
- Tools for this workshop: HackMD+Zoom. If we are demoing HackMD and Zoom then the time is insufficient, isn't it?
- Code of conduct (5 mins) and Ice-breaker (10 minutes).
Training providers
- Rename the title of the episode into "teaching philosophy". That is what is important to the learners. Otherwise it appears as promotional material 😅
- Add a short paragraph something on why we are introducing these 3 providers. The first sentence is good enough if it can be moved up
ENCCS, CodeRefinery and The Carpentries all teach computational competences to learners through an applied approach founded on research-based teaching principles
Available lessons
These lessons are at different maturity levels and have been developed by many different people, so they do not all conform equally well to the recommendations presented in this lesson on best practice!
- Clarify the intention of the episode.
- Can we pick one lesson which we can show as a gold standard for the purpose of instructor training?
- Are we showing this to allow instructors to select something that they are familiar with, in preparation for the next episode?
First teaching practice
teach” a topic close to your heart to your collaborator.
- Are we allowing It should be from the ENCCS / Coderefinery library isn't it? Clarify that.
- Add Recommended episodes similar to how Carpentries does. If the learners do not know which ones to pick.
