As per the internal communications, the next MPAS tag to bring in will be v8.4.0, which is planned to be released in the upcoming weeks.

@cacraigucar From what I am told, yes, but I will defer to @PeterHjortLauritzen to make the final call.

Currently, the MPAS tag in CAM is at v8.2.1. I just ran the CIME regression tests with the MPAS tag at v8.3.1, and they still passed bit-for-bit with respect to cam6_4_149. Should answer changes arise when updating to v8.4.0, it would be easier for us to pinpoint them between v8.3.1..v8.4.0.
