Have you thought about generating image signatures as a way to match identical images that are reused in multiple listings? I recently read about a way to generate a signature that matches the same image in a way that is invariant to scaling, and gamma/hue shift: http://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/?/archives/432-Looks-Like-It.html Eg the reverse image service TinEye uses a method like this. The platform could use this as another feature to connect a string of related posts.
