Examples:

batchconvert --ometiff --merge_files "input_dir/time-series" "output_path"

batchconvert --omezarr --merge_files "input_dir/time-series" "output_path"

This is wrong and should be without the first --.

It looks like this issue was fixed in the following commit: 6a62caf
