It appears that this restart is necessary to do replay runs? My replay is barking at me at least for not having it. Remap_restart doesn't seem to know this exists. It talks about agcm_import_rst which is maybe what this used to be? Too many things to keep track of.

@bena-nasa @atrayano Do you have knowledge about this? My guess is it wouldn't be hard for @weiyuan-jiang to add support to remap_restarts for it.

@briardew Are you trying to replay to 3-hourly files from GEOS IT?

Define trying. Up until you pointed it out, I had no idea that the replay wasn't reading 3-hourly files. But yeah, in general I would 1) like the GCM to behave as I think it is and 2) have replay work good.

Can you provide more details how you are running replay (the AGCM.rc replay parameters) you are using as well as the GEOSgcm fixture tag?

Looks like Sourish has identified that the AGCM.rc settings I have don't quite do what I was intending. I also think this had something to do with off-synoptic vs synoptic restarts. I'm going to propose closing this issue and doing some more digging before proceeding.
