Pokemon Emerald Battle Tent Save Temporary Freeze/Crash

I've noticed whenever leaving the battle tent in Pokemon emerald it will appear to crash when saving, making the common gba crashing sounds, which if the console is turned off will corrupt the save, however after attempting it a few times I've noticed it will successfully save but it will take around 3 minutes.
