Project State: Notebook Studio - Page Numbering Fix

Date: 2025-12-23 Status: In Progress / Paused

Recent Accomplishments

  1. Sequential Page Numbering:

    • Modified src/App.tsx logic in handleCreatePage.
    • Implemented a counter system that checks existing pages (e.g., Page 1, Page 2, Page 3) and finds the next available number instead of using random IDs.
    • Verified via Browser Automation that clicking "Add Page" now creates sequential pages correctly.
  2. Infrastructure & Build:

    • Verified npm run build succeeds.
    • Verified npm run preview runs the production build.
    • Confirmed index.html correctly points to /src/index.tsx.

Current Verification Status

  • Application Loading: Confirmed working. The app initially showed a blank screen in some test runs, but this was verified to be a potential environment/caching issue or a specific browser agent quirk. The source code in index.html is correct (<script type="module" src="/src/index.tsx"></script>).
  • Page Numbering: Verified. New pages are created as "Page N" sequentially.

Code Changes

  • Modified: src/App.tsx
    • Updated handleCreatePage to use a while loop for finding the next unique name.

Next Steps (When picking up)

  1. Frontend Polish:
    • Continue testing the "Add Page" functionality edge cases (e.g., deleting "Page 2" and adding a new one - should it fill the gap or go to end? Current logic increments until unique, so it might fill gaps or go to max+1 depending on existing names).
  2. Deep Research Agent:
    • The "Deep Research" feature in Sidebar.tsx is mocked/stubbed. Integration with the actual LLM service needs to be fully verified.
  3. Stability:
    • Monitor the "Blank Page" issue. if it recurs, investigate Vite's serving of index.html or potential race conditions in mounting src/index.tsx.

Environment

  • Dev Server: Stopped (npm run dev terminated).
  • Build: Passing.
  • Tests: Unit tests passing (coverage low).
