heli has no translator, maybe this was a standard feature of ROM |

I installed heliboard on a stock ROM, and just moved to a custom ROM. On the stock ROM there was a translator toolbar key that is now missing in the custom ROM. It was able to quick translate any typed in text to a chosen language. Was this added by integration with gboard/google translate? If so how do I achieve similar functionality with open source (or at least safer) alternatives? I can't find anything about this feature outside of gboard.
