DWM crashes upon system startup after using AeroGlassGUI.exe

Summarise the issue

OpenGlass fails to inject during system startup after opening "AeroGlassGUI.exe". Clicking "Abort" on the error dialog and restarting the "000OpenGlass Host" task through Task Scheduler restores full functionality with seemingly no issues. This error only occurs on system startup.

How do you reproduce the bug/inaccuracy?

1. Download the latest version of OpenGlass
2. Extract the "AeroGlassGUI.exe" file from the archive and place it in C:\awm
3. Open AeroGlassGUI.exe, click "Save" and close the interface.
4. Restart the system

Expected behaviour

OpenGlass should properly inject into DWM and enable "aero" transparency effects system-wide without issue. This is how it functioned previously before I added and opened the "AeroGlassGUI" configurator that comes with the standard downloadable release of OpenGlass.

Additional Context

I intended to change the blur radius to a value of "3" because I found that the blur radius applied via the Transformation Pack is not accurate enough to how windows appear in Windows 7. There are no configurator applications that I could find related to this setting due to how OpenGlass and AWM are installed via the Pack so I decided to download the mods separately and drag-and-drop the config applications alone into the C:\awm folder thinking it would allow me to change the blur radius, which it did, until it started giving me this error on system restarts.

It seems that occasionally upon system restart, the error dialog will not appear. However, OpenGlass Aero effects will not be present in window borders and titlebars. Additionally, OpenGlass seems to fail to inject sometimes regardless of whether the "000OpenGlass Host" task is restarted or not.

OpenGlass fails to inject properly when an earlier version of AWM was used. That issue should've been fixed so the other thing that I think it's going on is that a special window is opening and for AWM does not like it so it crashes. If you don't mind not having almost all the features of awm i suggest you replacing it with https://github.com/ImSwordQueen/aero-window-manager-OPL-2.0/releases/tag/basic-hooks1 and see if it still happens.

Cannot repro sadly, I tried changing settings with AeroGlassGUI and it does not crash after a reboot.

Interesting, on my computer as well it appears to have stopped...? For the past couple of reboots on my system I haven't had the issue at all and OpenGlass works just fine. On a side note, if I would like to change OpenGlass and AWM settings again, how should I do so? The transformation pack doesn't include the config GUIs by default.

Reopening because I think I've found the real source of this bug.

I clean installed Windows on my PC and it appears that the issue has nothing to do with AeroGlassGUI, and rather the AMD drivers I installed. As soon as I installed AMD's GPU drivers, DWM crashed repeatedly and on next system boot the error popped up on my screen again. The error seems to occur at random now.

Additionally, I've attached the crash dump file found (that wasn't there in my previous installation) found in C:\awm

Disable aero window manager and check if just OpenGlass does it the same crash. if it does then please report it in the OpenGlass repo.

OpenGlass appears to crash even with AWM disabled. I'll go ahead and close this and report the bug to the OpenGlass repo, I have a strong feeling this is an AMD issue.

I'll use DWMBlurGlass in the meantime.
