Metasurfaces are two-dimensional planar structures composed of artificial structural units at the sub-wavelength scale, which can flexibly manipulate the propagation characteristics of waves such as light and electromagnetic waves. The dispersion curve describes the relationship between the frequency of the wave and the wave vector (or propagation constant), reflecting the dispersion characteristics of the wave when it propagates in a medium or structure. The inverse design of metasurfaces based on dispersion curves means that, according to the pre-set characteristics of the dispersion curve, the structural parameters of the metasurface that can achieve these characteristics are deduced in reverse.
