Hello everyone,

My name is Sarvesh Mishra, and I am a B.Tech student at IIT BHU with a strong interest in the field of robotics. I recently came across your organization and am excited about the opportunity to contribute.

I have just completed Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) and am currently learning ROS 2, control systems, and various other robotics-related topics. I am eager to get involved and make meaningful contributions.

Could you please guide me on where to start and what I should focus on learning to begin contributing effectively to your organization?

Sure, maybe the first step for you is solving some exercises of our RoboticsAcademy, for instance the FollowLine (you will learn visual control) and BasicVacuumCleaner (you will practice with reactive FiniteStateMachines). Just solve them using the latest release of RoboticsAcademy and the hal.py Python module to access to robot sensors and actuators.Share here the corresponding videos for your solutions working.

After that you may solve them again but without using hal.py module, just directly using ROS2 topics. @AshishRamesh is working to support the direct ROS2 topics programming in RA. And your betatesting with it will be helpful.

Hello,

I am using a Mac and trying to run JdeRobot Robotics Academy on Docker, but I’m facing some issues. The documentation doesn’t have much information for Mac users, so I want to improve it once I get it working.

I pulled both images:
docker pull jderobot/robotics-database:latest
docker pull jderobot/robotics-academy:latest
But when I try to run the academy container, I get:

could not get container for academy_db: No such container: academy_db
I then tried running the database container first, but on my Mac (M1/M2) I get a warning about platform mismatch (linux/amd64 vs linux/arm64/v8).
When I run the academy container after that, I get:

error gathering device information while adding custom device "/dev/dri": no such file or directory
Can you please help me fix this so I can run the exercises? After that, I will update the documentation with Mac installation steps.
