OOE Virtual Laboratory: Optical & EM Systems (G4 - ENSTA 2025–2026)

Physics Formulas Used

  • Track 1: Snell’s Law (First Refraction Law)
    ( n_1 \sin \theta_1 = n_2 \sin \theta_2 )
→ Used to simulate light refraction at a single interface.

  • Track 2: Snell’s Law (Second Refraction Law / Double Refraction)
    ( n_1 \sin \theta_1 = n_2 \sin \theta_2 )
→ Used when light passes through two consecutive media with different refractive indices.

  • Track 3: Beer-Lambert Law
    ( A = \varepsilon c l )
→ Used to simulate light absorption in a medium depending on concentration and path length.

How to use the simulation

  1. Open the simulation using the GitHub Pages link.
  2. Select the desired track (Track 1, Track 2, Track 3).
  3. Adjust parameters for each track:
    • Track 1 & 2: angles of incidence, refractive indices
    • Track 3: concentration, path length, molar absorptivity
  4. Observe how light behaves according to the law of that track.
  5. Compare simulation results with theoretical expectations.
  6. Repeat with different values to explore physical behavior in each track.
