EmoNet Emotion Taxonomy

EmoNet defines 40 emotion categories with synonyms and variations for voice performance annotation. Each emotion can be expressed at 4 intensity levels, enabling fine-grained emotional labeling of speech and vocal performances.

Intensity Levels

Level Label Description
1 Slightly present The emotion is faintly detectable, a subtle hint in the voice
2 Clearly present The emotion is unmistakably expressed and easily recognized
3 Extremely present The emotion dominates the vocal delivery with strong intensity
4 Very intensely present The emotion is at its peak, overwhelming all other vocal qualities
