Shuffle All is so monotonous

I have 20+ seasons of some of my fav shows and the Shuffle All feature will always play the same dozen episodes, often starting with one of the same 6 or so episodes, no matter how many times I try to shuffle it up. It becomes practically useless over time due to the monotony.

Any way the Shuffle All function could be improved to handle larger collections? Also, perhaps a Shuffle Unplayed option would provide a nice alternative to ensure only fresh/non-repetitive playback in large collections

I don't think it's a server resource limitation on my end, as the server is running on modern high end hardware (for encoding and such). The algorithm just seems "fixed" and limited in scope, in general.

If it matters, I'm using the Linux version of server and primarily watch via the Android TV app, where I employ Shuffle All often.

I second that. sorry but it is the truth. Ive been keeping myself from opening an issue for weeks now since i started using emby.

My situation, I have 25 thousands sounds and every morning and after work I am on the road for hours and the entire library is on shuffle but it is always the same sounds. I can't take it anymore.

It does only seem to be an issue when the number of items to shuffle hits 100+. I haven't looked at the code, but I suspect it stops polling items to shuffle into beyond some pre-defined limit that isn't taking larger collections into account, perhaps to ensure it works on lower-spec systems without OOM or the like?

If I get a chance to go digging and/or if someone wants to point me to where that code lives, I'm not opposed to taking a shot at patching it, myself. It seems to be cross-platform and/or server-side code, given the comment above being AAuto or mobile and my issue presenting on TV versions of the app (arguably both Android?) behaving the same way with both TV Series and Sound/Music. Shared function of the built-in Media Player, I'm assuming?

Correct, it's Android. The issue occurs with the Emby app, the web app, the PWA, the Samsung app, and every custom integration I've built myself—so yes, it's reasonable to assume the problem is server-related.

I would not mind looking myself, maybe we can look together on sunday ?

I’m also facing this issue. I have a tv play list that just seems to loop the same few episodes over and over.

any update on the matter? I completely stop using music side of emby because of that ?
