Grouping and Editions

Hi,

Moving/ Migrating from Plex (Lifetime Pass), and I noticed a few key differences that has made migration a little tricker:

1. Grouping - having different versions (resolution primarily) is handled almost automatically by Plex, including selecting the approriate version. Is this feature missing in Emby, or have I failed to configure something?

2. Edition - while not strickly 'great' in Plex, it was more obvious when you had different editions of movies. A fine example would be The God Father Part III and the The God Father Part III - The Coda Edition, or Alien - Directors Cut. I believe I've named things appropriately ({Movie} ({Year} {[Edition]}, etc), and the NFOs are all correct.

Given the above, what is the recommended way of both grouping the same movie in the display, while also showing the different editions?

Hi, we do plan to support editions as well. What issue did you have with automatic grouping?

What version are you testing on? Are the grouped movies in the same folder?

It's all super manual right now.

Having to group things by had. And occasionally groupings undo themselves.

Hi,

They're not in the same folder. They're on different drives on different systems (e.g. NAS vs. USB). Using https://www.tinymediamanager.org/ to manage the library (including naming), with Emby mode compatible .nfo files - and the media in question would have the ids (regardless of source - imdb/ tvdb/ etc).

The new 4.9 release has added support for grouping based on moviedb ids.

Where is Edition management on the roadmap? A 'Directors Cut' vs a 'Theatrical Release' shouldn't be grouped, regardless of matching IDs.

Version [4.9.1.80] is out now

The release section in the repository is not longer maintained I believe since the license became closed source. It is misleading.
