Comments
Similarly for me, with Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon, everything up-to-date, running Mesquite version 3.61 build 927. This is = issue #93
Crash window contents:

Same error here on Debian 10
I attach the full error log |
I solved by using openjdk-8, installing it from adoptjdk (don't try to apt pin or mess with repos, it's not a good idea). Still, it should get updated to more recent java versions It's kinda written in the mesquite home page
Could I recommend to add that many linux distros may face the same problem in the home page? |
I have the same error in Manjaro. And until now I have not solved this problem. |
We haven't found any solution with Oracle Java 11 through 16, and so yes, for the moment, Java 8 is needed. It seem pretty clearly to be a bug in Java 11 - 16; the crash seems to be entirely within their code. We've added extra explanation about it to the Installation page and to the instructions that are now placed within Mesquite_Folder. |
Just wanted to comment it also encounters a stackoverflowerror under Java 20 as well. I am having issues that mesquite is hanging on Java 8 when it tries to load stochmap module but I will talk more about that in another issue. |
On running the Mesquite executable, Mesquite generates the above error and a crash dialogue.
System: Pop!_OS 20.04; openjdk 14.0.1 2020-04-14
Error was also generated under openjdk 11, which I purged before installing openjdk 14.
Output of dialogue box attached as a text file.
