CheckBox state transition code

This page explains very well about how the checkbox is built, however, it would be great if we talk about how the checkbox's visual state transition takes place, meaning how does it know to go from unchecked visual state to checked visual state. Basically I'm looking for the source code for checkbox's visual state transition.
