Hermes Rules #214
Description
Hermes is an upcoming mod that outputs lots of data for external tools to use.
Much of its functionality has already been reviewed and green-lit by the moderators.
Before legalization, rules need to be created surrounding its usage, notably:
- Only allowing whitelisted external tools to read from the live ciphered play log.
- E.g. PaceMan Tracker
- Restricting what external tools may do with information from
state.json.- E.g. Something that would not be allowed: key switching conditionally swapped depending on opened screen, potentially enabling search-crafting tech that is certainly not possible in vanilla.
A.8.5 states
Some mods have special conditions of use, such as for use in Set Seed categories only, as described in the README.md.
Which implies mods can state their own usage rules (personally, I dislike this).
A.8.9 and A.8.12 also state usage rules for specific mods while being actual rules on the rules doc, which I'd prefer.
