Papercolor no longer works on initial load with neovim 0.10.0

Created an issue with repro instructions with Neovim here: neovim/neovim#28927

Papercolor stops working on load with neovim 0.10.0. It seems possibly related to this ticket, though the recommendations (sourcing the original vim colors) don't seem to address the issue.

I'm unsure how the mechanics of colorschemes work, but am happy to take a crack at fixing this if there's straightforward guidance on how to remediate.

Findings from the neovim maintainers:

It seems that when loading init file, termguicolors is not set
so papercolor doesn't define colors for gui (maybe an optimization)
nvim 0.10's truecolor support detection kicks in, setting termguicolors
you see the default nvim gui colors
to avoid this, you can explicitly set or unset termguicolors before :colorscheme.

Is the status bar color works for your? For me on v0.10.0 it lost the background color.

That might be related to another change related to colorschemes in 0.10.0, the default colors for neovim changed. Certain parts of the UI may have depended on the program defaults, to use the old vim default colors can you try running the below where you set your colorscheme and let me know if it helps?

Can you locate the PaperColor source file within your filesystem and also remove the hi clear command?

It works with the vim.lua sourced and 'hi clear' commented out. Thx :)
