Complete Onboarding Failure Chronology (Ubuntu 24.04)

I want to report that the automated onboarding is failing on Ubuntu 24.04 through both available methods. Here is the sequence of errors:

1. Direct Gateway Deployment (Initial Attempt)

The process fails consistently during the "Starting OpenShell gateway" phase.

• Error: Gateway failed: nemoclaw. Gateway failed to start. The gateway encountered an unexpected error during startup.
• Observation: The gateway never reaches a healthy state. Retries fail even after manually clearing port 8080 and pruning Docker volumes. There seem to be permission issues with overlayfs/mounts on this OS version.

2. K3s / Flannel Deployment (Fallback Attempt)

After the gateway failed, I tried the K3s/Kubernetes installation path, which led to a complete networking deadlock.

• Error: plugin type="flannel" failed (add): failed to load flannel 'subnet.env' file: open /run/flannel/subnet.env: no such file or directory.
• Observation: Flannel fails to generate the required network environment variables, causing a domino effect where CoreDNS, Metrics Server, and the OpenShell pods (like openshell-0) fail to initialize or find required secrets (openshell-server-tls).

Summary

The installer seems incompatible with the Ubuntu 24.04 network stack and security profiles (AppArmor/Kernel changes). Neither the local Docker gateway nor the K3s cluster can bootstrap correctly.

I've had to roll back the environment. I recommend checking compatibility for the 24.04 LTS release.
