and i've had a go at trying to package it a while ago
evils@b23d6e6 (this doesn't work)

as i can't seem to find that Florian on other nix related communication channels,
and mentioning my prior work on the upstream PR seems off-topic

i'm opening this PR in hopes of my prior work being of use
and maybe get a working package in nixpkgs, because i definitely miss it :P
