How to get solidification rate and thermal gradient

@QuinnLi-830 - we extract the solidification data on our internal version of AdditiveFOAM through a FunctionObject similar to the ExaCA FunctionObject. I will create an issue to merge this capability for you as soon as possible.

Hi, hope you have a great summer. I was just wondering how everything is going. I'm quite curious how this function can be realized in the current AdditiveFOAM version. I would like to use it to output some data for my draft preparation, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

@QuinnLi-830, we have put this functionality in #74. Can you confirm that it has the desired behavior for your use case?

Yeah, it outputs the solidification data in my case. One thing is that after adjusting the heatSource function and turning on the heatflow in my case, the output data is more than 1TB. Not all the results could be written after the finalization of the simulation as the storage of Ubuntu ran out. Will adjusting the start time help to start the simulation at the recorded time? Or are there any methods?

Can you provide more information on the relevant files sizes. Are the AdditiveFOAM fields creating large data output? In this case, you should reduce the amount of data being written using writeInterval in system/controlDict. However, if it is the solidification data files that are large, then you will need to reduce the size of the bounding box where you are extracting this information. We are currently working on improve file I/O through the ADIOS library, which will reduce file sizes, but it is ongoing work with no strict timeline for completion.
