This is nice work, and a very intriguing implementation. It does not, however, seem to work in Windows, where both unlink and rmdir are running into problems. Such errors used to be fairly common, but I haven't seen an example in quite some time. I think you could avoid these problems, and simplify your code, by making use of the tmpfile function, which should clean up after itself, for both your resources property and your singleFiles property (which might have to become two arrays, one for resources, and one for data lengths). You would then not need the $localDir nor $autoClear properties, nor the ensureDirectoryExists nor clear nor __destruct methods.

I don't think there is any way we could incorporate this directly into PhpSpreadsheet - we have always made it clear that the users need to provide their own implementation for caching. However, if it gets to the state where you are willing to publish this on Packagist, we would certainly be open to pointing to it in the documentation.
