KFXArchiver283 not producing files

I executed the KFXArchiver283 as visible in screenshot w/o error message and no output files created.
The book was just downloaded and the output folder exists (but is empty after execution).
I tried the same with KFXArchiver290 resulting in following additional message and also w/o output files:
Initialized exceptions
Flipped tls

Do you have any hint for me?

when importing the ebook into calibre, what filetype is it reported as?

This is a different topic, but it should be KFX-ZIP that needs to be converted to something else by "KFX Input Calibre plugin" as mentioned here: https://github.com/Satsuoni/DeDRM_tools/releases/tag/v10.0.17

should? have you checked? kindle ebooks dont just come in kfx format, even on the pc app

No, as I am not getting the file decrypted yet and the input plugin works with unencrypted files only.

Remark: When I import encrypted files they are displayed as KFX-ZIP in Calibre (I just checked with the ebook I am trying to decrypt and it is marked as KFX-ZIP in Calibre).
Anyway, this is a different topic not related to my original one.

Thanks for checking anyway. It could have been that the one book you downloaded was in an older format. In which case it would have remained azw if the drm wasn't removed. And there would have been other steps to take.

Well, the bottom (end of the output) would be nice. But as mentioned in the thread, it does not seem like there is anything there to crash, and so far the only remedy that occasionally worked was reinstalling Kindle or changing its version. I cannot reproduce it at all, and it now loads correct dlls now, so I am not sure what I am supposed to do with it.

There is nothing more. Next line is the next command to check the book dir content, which is empty.
Kindle app was installed fresh and book was downloaded newly before trying decoding

I executed the debug version without success, once as normal user and once as admin. Both log files are attached.

No change after kindle app reinstall and freshly downloaded book (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0GMCJ3GNG/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title).

I meant running it from C:\Users\rober\AppData\Local\Amazon\Kindle\application , but it should not affect it at all. I will take a look... Tomorrow, but I am stumped. Book is irrelevant since it never gets to that point.

I guess if you are still willing, try it on other versions? Do not redownload book, that should not matter. Just install them in order...

I tried mostly all versions and all results look similar and produce no output files (all executed in app directory).
I used archiver 2.9 debug2 and additionally tried with kindle version 2.8.70987 also with archiver version 282

Well, they all throw access violation on the same initialization, QString::fromAscii_helper("www.amazon.com",0xe);. But the QT is loaded correctly...

Same as mine then. But it does not produce any symbols, even though it crashed somewhere in the system library? And cuts out mid print, it seems. You don't happen to have any anticheat, etc? -> NO, just standard installation

And could you see if missing "tail" appears in console if you don't pipe it to file? **-> NO ** I checked that before and there was nothing missing.
Anyway, will sent the log without piping to a file next time.

Also, do you have any crash logs in Windows Event viewer? -> Yes (see below) Remark: I never used that before. I don't have much experience with Windows systems as I am using Linux since long time. So, hopefully its correct one. Anyway, there seems to be a crash reported in Windows Event viewer whenever I started your program.

... Ok, I am close to giving up. As far as I can tell, it throws exception in a malloc, normal one, not hooked, for no discernible reason. The only thing I might suggest is compiling it yourself and seeing if that makes a difference... But as I cannot reproduce it myself, I am not sure what else to try (and I am feeling a bit guilty making you run so many diagnostics).

I don't have a built environment setup in Windows, no clue how this works in Windows and you are using a lot of special libraries.
This will take too much effort for me, if you don't have an easy solution for me.

Anyway, thanks for your efforts and don't worry about mine. It's in my interest and it was fun.

4, I use 4 libraries from github... (ZIP,AES, LZMA,Json) But fair enough, setup is a pain. The suggestion below about a vm might be a good one, since it seems to be something related to windows configuration. Techy-notes script runs the same executables in background, so is unlikely to work in this case. Sorry again.

Try restarting the process from scratch on a Windows virtual machine. Apply all system updates beforehand, just in case.

Use the recommended versions of each program: Kindle 2.8.0, DeDRM Tools v10.0.19 (pre-release), the latest Calibre, and the other plugin.

I installed Windows 11 newly in a VM and followed the installation guideline in link above (I additionally needed to install latest python version which was not mentioned in the guideline).
Then using the "Run_keyfinder_admin.vbs" script created the KFX-ZIP file in Calibre that I just needed to convert to epub using the KFX input plugin.

Only task that does not work is that I cannot drag and drop books to Calibre to get them decrypted. I need to check that further.

Glad to hear it.

I think "Run_keyfinder_admin.vbs" needs to be executed every time a new book is downloaded from Kindle. Maybe that's why drag and drop isn't working - but in my case, I don't mind this feature.

Presumably, KFX Archiver worked on VM and produced KFX-zip files? It no longer can produce keys to decrypt them in Calibre so it decrypts them separately (hence the need for LZMA and Zip libraries). Not sure what script does to them afterwards. Registers them in DB? Yes, you need to run them for all new books, though you can obviously batch that.
