BetterFlight is modern, high-performance flight controller firmware designed for both multi-rotor and fixed-wing aircraft.
Built as a reimagined version of Betaflight, this project is implemented entirely in Rust — unlocking the power of safety, speed, and reliability for embedded flight systems.
- Rust-based core for enhanced memory safety and performance
- Modular architecture for flexible target support
- Designed for STM32 microcontrollers
- Focused on clean code, modern tooling, and future extensibility
To build BetterFlight for STM32 targets, follow these steps:
Make sure you have the following tools installed:
-
cargo-binutils and LLVM tools:
cargo install cargo-binutils rustup component add llvm-tools-preview
-
probe-rs for flashing/debugging STM32:
cargo install probe-rs
-
Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/your-org/betterflight.git cd betterflight -
Build the firmware for an STM32 target (e.g., STM32F4 series):
cargo build --release --target thumbv7em-none-eabihf
-
(Optional) Flash to device using
probe-rs:cargo flash --chip <CHIP_NAME> --release
Replace
<CHIP_NAME>with your exact MCU model (e.g.,STM32F405RG).
