Game Freezes Upon Selecting File 1

When launching as vanilla, I can open file 1 with no delay or freeze or anything. Oddly enough I can select file 2 and file 3 just fine on both repentogon and vanilla, but when launching with repentogon, file 1 always freezes the game entirely. After waiting about 5 minutes it finally moved on to the next screen (new game, continue etc), but loading into a new run also did the same thing. Not sure what's going on and I'm not seeing any errors in the logs.

Also launching as vanilla (both from steam and as the vanilla option in repentogon launcher) works even with the same mods enabled

This is actually likely a vanilla game issue, believe it or not....when you disable mods midrun, theres a chance you fuck your continue state and so when you enter the game again, said sesssion tries to get loaded and the game crashes. Why doesnt it happen in vanilla then?, because repentogon uses a copy of the vanilla save and not the original save, so you fucking the repentogon savestate keeps the original intact and the opposite is also true.
For the future, try to not disable mods mid-run or with uncompleted runs as this may happen....now, to get out of this situation without meddling with files and more annoying shit....you can try launching repentogon with mods disabled (on the change game options screen, uncheck enable mods) and starting a new run to kill the fucked run state...OR you can try enabling back the mod you just disabled midrun and seeing if that fixes it....if neither of those things work, get back to us.

Hi, so I did not have a run to continue is the issue. I exited game from the game over screen

And even when I load in from vanilla, the continue button is greyed out

Update: still freezing big time after starting with mods disabled, after disabling steam cloud sync and deleting the gamestate files then starting a new run and then exiting and re-enabling sync to overwrite the cloud state. Its only with repentogon launcher, with mods enabled. Every other combination of mods on/off or steam/repentog9n launcher works, just mods on repentogon does not

Did you actually start a new run with rgon mods disabled?, made sure that run saves and then try with mods enabled again?. Also did you try disabling some rgon-only mods that may be fucking up the menu somehow?
Again, what you describe seems like clearly a session save issue, specially if it happened after a run.

yes that is correct. I did exactly that. i also did happen to disable most of the mods i was running one by one and the problem still persisted

to be clear, rgon with mods off runs just fine and you can start a run but the moment you enable any mod this happens? if so, pleasew, provide your log.txt after the freeze happens with the least amount of mods possible

I also tried doing the game options > save file management > import from repentance, but ti froze up and crashed after like 5 minutes of waiting directly following trying it

huh okay so update: I got rgon modded to work once, with a bunch of mods disabled, and so I tried enabling a handful of ones I wanted to be playing with specifically, and it went back. But the ones i re-enabled were ones that I had disabled even when it was freezing so I'm still confused

Also yeah, rgon mods disabled runs just fine and i can start a run (I just did as well, before doing this)
