Can Zilla Slab typeface be used for headers and (sub)section (and other parts of the text)?

In the UU's brand policy page, Zilla Slab is mentioned as an official typeface, but it is advised not to be used in the main text:

The Zilla Slab is a modern slab serif combining smooth lines and subtile thin-thick ratios. Giving the font a surprising industrial look and feel that remains accessible Centres and institutes can use the Zilla Slab as an alternative for the Merriweather. We recommend using the Zilla Slab for headlines, quotes etc., for body text use the Merriweather or Open Sans.

It would be nice if that could be implemented in the UU class, such that by setting an option one can set the fonts of headers and quotes to Zilla Slab—and keep other parts of the texts with Merriweather of Open Sans—making the document look more elegant look.

I had difficulty importing the font from Google Fonts, but maybe you can implement it.

Oh that's a good quesiton @psyguy ! It definitely sounds desirable given the brand policy. May I ask what you've tried so far? My first instinct would be to try to use XeLaTeX and fontspect using Zilla Slab as a system font. But that would probably run into #3, right? May I ask what you've tried to far?

As I am not TeX-savvy, I got stuck at figuring out how to add a custom font to the LaTeX class (on Overleaf) 😅—thus I've got nothing to offer actually 😞 .

@psyguy : No worries. I've done some testing and I think I can make it work with XeLaTex. I'll push a trial version in the next week or so and will let you know that it's there. Thanks for the input! 🙇
