Ran different games without gamescope and always ran. Never ran when trying gamescope in steam launch options field. Commands tried in launch options: gamescope -- %command%, gamescope -h 720 -H 1440 -b -- %command%, gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -f -- %command%, etc.
Which gamescope backends have the issue you are reporting?
Wayland (default for nested gamescope)
DRM (default for embedded gamescope, i.e. gamescope-session)
SDL
OpenVR
Logging, screenshots, or anything else
I tried looking through some logs when attempting to run gamescope in steam and without gamescope. One uncertainty I found is when running gamescope in steam for a game, it attempts to use my integrated Intel GPU instead of my discrete 3090 GPU and soon crashes after. I don't know if that is what is stopping gamescope from running, but it is something I noticed.
Also to note, I can run gamescope in Heroic Game Launcher. I can run the steam application in gamescope from commandline and run games fine inside of that. The terminal and gamescope instance does close after about 10-20 minutes, so I wouldn't say running gamescope in terminal is a permanent solution for me.
@matte-schwartz I guess it is a dual gpu setup. I have my Nvidia 3090 I want to use for most cases. I have my i5-12600k's integrated gpu in-case my 3090 dies and I still need to interface with my system before I find a replacement.
As for cat /proc/fb, it returns:
cat: /proc/fb: No such file or directory
I did check and I have the proc dir, but no fb
On another note, I did upgrade my drivers to 570 from 565 to see if the issue was fixed. Nothing changed.
Is there an existing issue for this?
