To expand my previous quick response:

This is a policy decision, not a technical one. We're not going to build the AI policy for everyone with one magic switch, as that could be the start of endless discussions. Not speaking of people using “AI” when they actually mean “LLM”.

Is DeepL AI for you or not? They describe themselves as AI solutions, while many people see them as machine translation services.

Weblate currently only uses “AI” in the automatic translation services. Disabling all remote services via https://docs.weblate.org/en/latest/admin/config.html#weblate-machinery will block them for sure. If you have an opinionated policy on which services are okay and which are not, you can implement it here.

If we will will expand LLM usage in the future (#11124 might be an example), it will most likely use existing LLM interface via automatic translation, so this configuration should be future proof.

For example Codeberg.org released new "terms of use" restricting AI. I am sure they might want to be able to disable AI stuff on their own weblate instance. This wouldn't be about technical restriction but just a signal.

In my view it could be useful if site admins could manage which automatic suggestion services are made available. In corporate environments you might have some policy on what's allowed and what isn't...
