Save before opening: clicking "yes" does nothing

When you choose to open a new file and the current composition has not been saved, a dialog box asks if you want. Whether you choose yes or no, the dialog to open a file appears next.

Can you replicate this? When I tried this it opened the save dialogue when I clicked yes and then the file open dialogue after, which is intended.

I think I found this error--saving works on the lab computers but not on my Mac. Any place where you try to save (during Save, Save As..., Open, New, Exit), the filechooser pops up, but nothing gets saved at all. And the save button doesn't get disabled, so at least the class invariant stays correct.
