12 Tips on events sustainability for 2025 monthly newsletter to event organizers

The Community team has suggested the idea of creating 12 very specific tips or small ideas on events sustainability by 2025, which they can add one to each monthly newsletter they send to event organizers and publish in P2 (e.g.).

If you think this is a good idea, we have created a collaborative document that already contains 12 suggestions from our Sustainable Events Handbook:

We invite all interested people to review these tips, add corrections or add new tip suggestions with the aim to send the final proposal to the Community team before the end of the year 2024.

Please, keep the suggestion mode activated when adding your feedback so everybody can view and review the proposed changes.

I have accepted all changes suggested in the 12 tips document, closed it for future changes and created the final version tab (the original comments are in a sub-tab inside that one) so they can be included in 2025 newsletters to organizers. Thanks!

This is a nice idea and great work! I've optimised some tiny bits, but it sounds good already.

Some ideas:

• We could add a ‘read more’ link, either to our guide or something more specific?
• I know it might be a bit controversial, but something more explicitly about making vegetable-based food the default?

Thank you for your feedback, @LittleBigThing. I love the 'read more' idea linking to the related section on our handbook. Regarding the making more explicit the vegetable-based food as the default, it is in our handbook, but I also see it controversial to mention it in the monthly tips. Perhaps more people can give their opinion on this to decide.

I have left just a comment about the option of giving surplus merchandising to charity. The rest of the proposals seem perfect to me. Good job!

I also like Csaba's idea of adding the "read more" but I'm not that sure about adding the vegetable-based food as the default, because of the controversial thing. But maybe it could play in favor of spreading awareness about the tips?

@noraferreiros I answer your comment there. The idea was not to give the swag to charity, but to opt out and select that that money goes to a charity. It was written like this: 'or opt it out in favor of a social or environmental charity'. Someone has changed it and now it is not that clear (not everybody is keeping the suggestion mode activated). Let me know if its ok like it was at the beggining or if it is better to take that out. Thanks! I will add the read more links to each section. :)

I just added the 'read more' links as suggestions and move the opt out in favor of a charity as it was at the beginning, so you can check if it is better understood like that or if it is better to remove it, @noraferreiros. @LittleBigThing and @nahuai, I would not include in the tip the vegetarian option as default, but the link 'read more' it does include that suggestion. I think it is enough like that, not that controversial.
