# Implementation of local differential privacy for android app with Google Analytics/Firebase

Following [codelab tutorial.](https://codelabs.developers.google.com/codelabs/firebase-analytics/index.html?index=..%2F..index#0), I have implemented Google Analytics with Firebase. I was able to log in analytics events in a sample android app.

From [https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy] "Firebase customers typically act as the "data controller" for any personal data about their end-users they provide to Google in connection with their use of Firebase, and Google is, generally, a "data processor".
This means that data is under the customer's control. Controllers are responsible for obligations like fulfilling an individual's rights with respect to their personal data."

To be able to use Google Analytics I as developer have to make sure that I have the right consents in place for users who download my app.

I have decided to explore the possibility of offering app users local differential privacy.

I have tried to use randomized response.
The technique used to add randomness to the response is following instructions (assuming yes/no question):

1.Flip a coin 2 times.

2.If the first coin flip is heads, answer honestly

3.If the first coin flip is tails, answer according to the second coin flip (heads for yes, tails for no)!

Thus, each answer is now protected with "plausible deniability". If thee answer "Yes" to the question "have you committed X crime?", then it might becasue they actually did, or it might be becasue they are answering according to a random coin flip. Each person has a high degree of protection. Furthermore, we can recover the underlying statistics with some accuracy, as the "true statistics" are simply averaged with a 50% probability. Thus, if we collect a bunch of samples and it turns out that 60% of people answer yes, then we know that the TRUE distribution is actually centered around 70%, because 70% averaged wtih 50% (a coin flip) is 60% which is the result we obtained.

I have implemented local differential privacy in onclick method.

The user have hight privacy and the acuracy goes up as number of app downloads increase.
