From top to bottom: Regular, Semibold, Bold
As you can see, for Regular and Bold the italic variant is somewhat narrower than upright. For Semibold it's actually wider, seemingly matching the width of Bold italic. This makes it look out of place in context, because emphasized text is weirdly spaced out.
It can be alleviated by manually adjusting tracking.
(I'm seeing the same behavior in both typst and word, so I'm fairly confident it's a font issue.)
