Yabai on MacOS 26

Just checking others experience with Yabai + SKHD on Macos26. This is essential to my workflow, and the stable version of 26 will soon be released (9th September).

If you look at the code or previous releases, you'll see that yabai has some hard-coded macOS version numbers and hex patterns (that again depend on the macOS version).

In my experience, every major macOS release has needed a yabai release to ensure that the payload addition is working fine. This is usually only needed for certain operations like switching spaces; the full list of such operations can be found in the wiki (the ones where it says SIP needs to be disabled). All the other operations should ideally work fine across macOS versions.

Luckily, there's an open PR (https://github.com/koekeishiya/yabai/pull/2644) for macOS 26. I'd suggest that wait for the beta period to be over and upgrade yabai when the PR is merged.

Is anyone have an issue allowing Yabai accessibility access? When I click to "Open System Settings" after yabai --start-service, Yabai doesn't show up in the list of applications. I've tried:

1. Restarting the OS
2. Fully updating Mac
3. Uninstalling/Reinstalling Yabai
4. Dragging the Yabai app from /opt/homebrew/bin onto the list of apps in Accessibility

Not sure what else I can do...

Delete old yabai if it is there, before engaging the service. If not, try to add it manually.

Checking back in on this thread to see who has dived into os26 on their daily driver.

I'm running Yabai on my laptop with os26, not sure how I feel about upgrading my Mac Studio. I'm starting to notice more and more of the apps I use not support Sequoia or become glitchy on Sequoia due to lack of updates.

Nobody cares about that.. updates on macOS are fine.. here we discuss only if yabai works (fully) or not on os26..

I've noticed in recent months it hasn't been as stable as it once used to be. Maybe even since I upgraded to Tahoe.

I find myself restarting yabai more often, sometimes even multiple times a day. Unfortunately I never seem able to find a pattern for what causes it, I just know that restarting it fixes it so I have an skhd command to restart yabai. :/
