I think it would be great if we can host checkmate on some online server.
Are you guys aware of some free or a bit cheaper server?
Benefits: Better publicity during further events.
Opinions?

I have used Heroku several times. It's good.
I have also heard of pythonanywhere, but I have never used it.

One disadvantage of Heroku is that you can't get a custom domain for free. I don't know whether pythonanywhere allows custom domains.

I have deployed my CF leaderboard webapp on heroku: https://eku-cf-ldrbrd.herokuapp.com
You can see the code here: https://github.com/sharmaeklavya2/cf_ldrbrd
In this project, I have written code in such a way that it is easily deployable both locally and on heroku.

But the question that needs to be addressed is, can a free account on either of the two sustain the load during the two hours of Checkmate? Python anywhere has maximum of 10k requests on its free account. Will it be enough for us? Once this limit is exhausted, they terribly slow down the response speed.

I think we are talking about hosting it so that people can try it out. I don't think we can easily host it online during an actual event.

It would be good if you host it so that people can try it out. Try to link it with the bitsacm website. The online demo will be useful when we apply for the best chapter website award this year.

I think it will be a good idea. The juniors will get an idea about it. People taking Front-End SIGs can explain elements from the site as well.

Let's go with Heroku or pythonanywhere then.
Who wanna take responsibility for it?
