Missing frontmatter header

I have difficulties generating rules with the frontmatter header. Whatever mechanism I use, it ignores the frontmatter part of the file. I tried all models like Sonnet 3.7, Gemini 2.5, and also GPT-4.1, but I got the same result. I even changed the file (rule-generating-agent.mdc) to explicitly state that I should not forget this part, etc. For some reason, Cursor doesn't want to add that part to the file! Do you have any idea why?
I also tried the auto apply rule like creating a rule agent, but in macro mode, which I attached to the file and asked to follow that; it doesn't want to generate the front matter.

Hey guys - thanks! I will take a look tonight and see what the issue might be.

To be sure - did you change the default editor to not use the MDC viewer so it is just a plain text file? This solves many of the issues people have run into. There are instructions for this in the readme. If you have tried that and there is still an issue I can investigate.

Same issue here. Have added:

"workbench.editorAssociations": {
  "*.mdc": "default"
}

which partially solves the issue... but the top header to allow for searching etc is not written to the file

Hmm strange - I will see what I can find if I can replicate. OOC are you on Mac or Windows (not sure that it matters, but I am on Mac).

for what it's worth, after telling Cursor that it violated the rule for generating the correct frontmatter, it solved the issue for subsequent rule generations
