Base vs. Project Type inheritance/references/etc.

How does agent-os handle "inheritance" between the base markdown and project type markdown? For example, my philosophy of code style or automated testing, etc. would be in the base, but does all of that have to be copied in every project type (hard to maintain), or is there some sort of reference or inheritence or overlay (think kustomize) or other mechanism between base and project types (or even between similar project types)?
